As far as ever...

Finally fully recovered from the bout of vicious flu, which ate up practically the whole of my block leave... Thinking back, it all kinda started on thursday, the day after POP.
Lunch on that day was thai food at some restaurant at the expo. Delicious but spicy. Later on was more spicy food at the Vietai kitchen during Avlin's farewell dinner. Wonder how he's doing in my old company. Went to bed with a ticklish throat. No signs on friday. Saturday dawned, and the nose began running. Still well enough to go out though =D
Sunday... sunday was when all hell broke loose. Began with a fever, 38 degrees. This quickly rose to 39, peaking at 39.6 degrees. Spent monday and tuesday sleeping the whole day away, with no abate in temperature. Finally saw a doctor on wednsday at CGH. Hospitals are so inefficient. Waited 2 hours just to see the doctor, after which a blood sample was taken and another hour required to collect the results - thankfully clear of dengue. Then they realised that they forgot to run the malarial screen, so it was another hour while they ran the required tests. The whole time was drifting from counter to counter, waiting, waiting, always waiting. Even collecting the medication was ridiculous. there the lobby was, full of waiting patients and there was only a single nurse who had to collect the medicine, give instructions, collect payment and package everything. A funny thing that kinda stuck in my mind was when the doctor asked if i was considering medcine. I said not really, and he, a doctor said - "don't become a doctor. Its a waste of time." Lol... Rest and recovery for whats left of my block leave...

Got posted to SISPEC. Located in Jurong. Boon Lay MRT. Now, instead of taking the damned boat to and fro from tekong, its the MRT, all the way from Tanah Merah to Boon Lay... a 1 to 2 hour journey all the same... Maybe tekong was closer anyhow, but nope! The prospect of just being on mainland makes home seem all that nearer.

And so another phase begins...
